Job Tracker will not produce errors processing dates in connection with the year change from 31st December 1999 to 1st January 2000, provided the hardware, firmware (BIOS) and operating system used with it properly exchange date information with Job Tracker. Job Tracker will also recognise the Year 2000 as a leap year.

Data Storage

All dates are stored in the database as complete date values (day, month, year and century)

Dependencies

Job Tracker is dependent on the operating system to determine the current date. Once the current date has been obtained Job Tracker will use this date as follows:

  • in certain calculations (eg calculating the age of an invoice)
  • when suggesting default date values for data entry
  • when interpreting incomplete dates entered by the user.

If the hardware, firmware (BIOS) and/or operating system is non year 2000 compliant (and therefore reports an incorrect date), this may cause Job Tracker to behave in an unpredictable manner.

Job Tracker has been tested for compliancy with the following operating systems:

  • Windows 3.1
  • Windows for Workgroups 3.11
  • Windows 95
  • Windows 98
  • Windows NT 3.51/4.0

Interpretation of Dates

Job Tracker provides great flexibility when entering dates and will attempt to interpret any value entered in a date field as a valid date. If you omit the century, year and/or month when entering a date value Job Tracker will supply values for the century, year and/or month using the current system date. If the complete date value determined by Job Tracker is not what you expect you should enter the complete date yourself (including the century).

See the table below for examples on how Job Tracker interprets dates.
